CITIC Bank International Office: Flexible Space with Glass and Operable Partitions
A modern banking office needs to do more than provide individual workstations and meeting rooms. It needs to create an environment where privacy, communication and flexibility can work together.
For the China CITIC Bank International (CNCBI) office project, a combination of fixed glass partitions and operable partitions was used to create a professional and adaptable workplace. The solution allows different areas to remain private when needed while making efficient use of the available floor space.

Creating Clear Boundaries with Fixed Glass Partitions
Fixed glass partitions form the architectural framework of the office, separating meeting rooms and working areas while maintaining visual connection throughout the space.
Different glass options can be selected according to the privacy requirements of each area. Clear glass helps maintain openness and natural light, while frosted or translucent options provide greater visual privacy.
This approach is particularly suitable for banking environments, where certain spaces need to support confidential conversations without making the entire workplace feel enclosed.

Maximizing Space with Operable Partitions
While fixed partitions provide permanent space division, some areas of a modern office require greater flexibility.
Operable partitions allow spaces to be opened, divided or combined according to different activities. A large meeting or working area, for example, can be separated into smaller rooms when privacy is required and opened again when a larger space is needed.
This makes it possible to maximize the use of the available floor area. Instead of assigning one fixed function to every room, the same space can support meetings, teamwork, presentations or other activities at different times.
For a busy financial workplace, this flexibility can help improve space efficiency without requiring major construction changes.

Customizable Panels for Different Needs
Operable partitions offer more than flexible space division. Their panel finishes can be customized to meet different functional and design requirements, making them suitable for a wide range of workplace applications.
Glass panels can be used where natural light and visual connection are important, helping maintain a bright and open atmosphere even when spaces are divided.
PET panels are a suitable option when acoustic performance is a priority. Their sound-absorbing properties can help reduce noise and create a more comfortable working environment.
For meeting rooms and collaborative spaces, whiteboard glass panels can add another practical function. They provide a writable surface for notes, presentations and brainstorming without requiring additional wall space.
With different panel options available, operable partitions can be tailored to combine light transmission, acoustic performance, privacy and functionality according to the needs of each space.
Supporting Acoustic Privacy
In a banking office, privacy is not only visual. Conversations taking place in meeting rooms and enclosed areas may also require a certain level of acoustic separation.
The combination of glass and operable partitions helps address this requirement. By reducing sound transmission and absorbing reflected noise, the partition system can contribute to a more controlled acoustic environment.
Together with the fixed glass partitions, the solution creates different layers of privacy: visual separation where needed and acoustic control where conversations require greater discretion.

One Workplace, Multiple Possibilities
The combination of fixed and operable partitions gives the office two complementary functions.
Fixed glass partitions establish permanent boundaries and maintain a sense of openness, while operable partitions allow selected spaces to change according to daily requirements.
This combination makes the workplace more adaptable without sacrificing its professional appearance. It also allows the same floor area to serve different purposes, helping organizations get more value from every square meter.
A More Flexible Approach to Banking Office Design
The CITIC Bank International project demonstrates how partition systems can support the changing needs of modern financial workplaces.
By combining fixed glass partitions, different glass treatments and PET-finished operable partitions, the office achieves a balance between privacy, acoustics, natural light and spatial flexibility.
Rather than treating partitions simply as walls, the project uses them as tools for better space planning—creating a workplace that can adapt to people, activities and changing requirements over time.
